Welcome to (Virtual) Holmes County!
The Catholic Community of Holmes County is pleased to welcome you to Ohio's Amish Country. Did you know that Holmes County is the most-visited tourist attraction in Ohio? We hope you will enjoy the scenic beauty of our countryside while visiting the many attractions and shops our area has to offer . . . and that you will find in us an oasis to quench your spiritual thirst. Catholics make up a tiny percentage of the local population, but we are pleased to offer the face of the Church to you and to the rest of our community.
While you are here, please make us your spiritual home away from home: we invite you to join us for Eucharist anytime you are able. Throughout the year we offer many special surprises and we are always happy to welcome our visitors, whether it be to our Thanksgiving Dinner in November, our Mardi Gras Party at the beginning of Lent (this year it fell on Valentine's Day: Sunday, 14 February 2010, following 10:30am Mass — click HERE to see the photos!), our Pancake and Sausage Breakfast, our Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner, one of our Spaghetti Dinners, Ice Cream Socials, or Lenten Soup Suppers or Movie Nights or Family Fun Afternoons,— or just Coffee and Doughnuts — and continued fellowship — after Sunday Mass! We hope that the love and beauty you experience here will lead you to keep us in your hearts and in your prayer — and to remember us fondly in the future.
As another service, we are happy to receive your Mass intentions. Many large Parishes have Intentions in reserve for years to come and often a requested Mass cannot be offered for months if not years. Because our community is so small, we cannot generate enough Mass Intentions by ourselves to cover the Masses which are offered here. Do you have a loved one whose intentions you'd like to have remembered at the altar of God in Eucharist? We are happy to receive your Intentions today or anytime in the future — Mass Intentions Envelopes are available in the vestibule of the Church and our mail and e-mail addresses are listed below . . . as well as on the front of the weekly Parish Bulletin.
Also, while you're shopping in Holmes County, we hope that you will spend a few minutes in our Parish Gift Shop, Honey From The Rock. (Our Shop is open regular hours every day — and we plan to open a virtual shop on this web page in the very near future!) With the help of our many fine suppliers, we can provide you with just about any Christian Gift you can imagine — and we are happy to ship whatever you order anywhere in the world. You will probably take home some souvenirs of Ohio's Amish Country. Why not take home a spiritual gift as well, one which might help to enliven your faith — and remind you of the new friends you have found in Holmes County?
May God bless you gently on your way and fill you always with love!
